General Notes: His record shows that he served in "D" company 8th New Jers ey Volunteers, and that he took part in the battles of Fiv e Forks, Boyden Road, Hatchers Run, Petersburg, and in th e captures of Richmond and Appomattox. After the war he ser ved as a teacher, a principal and as Superintendant of Scho ols in Patterson, New Jersey. Orestes married Augusta Hopper on 2 Dec 1862. (Augusta Hopper died on 20 Dec 1863.) Orestes next married Mary Frazier in 1867. (Mary Frazier died in 1871.) Orestes next married Ada M. Hillings in 1873. |
