Elias Harris ²¹

  General Notes:

They were farmers at Vail, New Jersey.

On the 1920 census, there was an Elias Harris, aged 76, a widower.

On the 1930 census, there was an Elias Harris, aged 86, a widower and a veteran of the Civil War.

Civil War Service Records show: Harris Elias Company G 2 New Jersey Cavalry. Entered as a Private, exited as a Private, Union. This may or may not have been our Elias.

According to the VanBunschoten Genealogy, Elias and Clarissa were married July 4, 1886. However, since that would have put them both in their mid 40s, and since their children were born beginning in the 1860s, I question this date.

Elias married Clarissa Brands, daughter of Daniel B.* Brands and Anna* Linaberry. (Clarissa Brands was born in 1843 ⁴⁶ and died in 1900.)
