Last Will and Testament of Abraham Lake:

In the matter of Probate
Of Will of
Abraham Lake deceased

I, Abraham Lake, do make ordain and publish this my last will and testament as follows, viz”
First, I direct that my body be decently interred; the needful expenses whereof my executor will pay. As to my worldly estate of whatever kind or description, I dispose of the same as follows, First, I give and bequeath to my wife, Lydia Lake, five hundred dollars, to be paid her immediately after my decease. This to be in lieu of all her rights of dower and exemptions. And this bequest bring made upon the express understanding and agreement now had between me and the said Lydia, that she will accept this bequest as and for her full share of my estate. Second, my children are as follows viz: Elizabeth Beck, John L. Lake, Mary Jane Cool, Rachel Raub & Isaac G. Lake, besides these I had a son William (now deceased) whose children (five) are living, I direct that all the residue of my property and estate be divided into six equal parts. John and Isaac Lake, each to have one sixth part, William's children to have one sixth part, equally divided between the, Elizabeth, Mary Jane & Rachel to have each one sixth part to them and to their heirs; and if either of these should die without heirs, then her said share is to be divided equally among my other heirs in the manner and proportions first indicated. Third, I authorize my executor to sell my real estate and convert it into money for the purpose of this distribution in his discretion. Fourth, I appoint my son John Lake to be the Executor of this my will. Witness my hand and seal this 18th day of September A.D. 1868.

Abraham married Susan Garrison about 1818 in Hunterdon County, NJ. (Susan Garrison was born on 19 Dec 1793 in New Jersey, died on 8 May 1861 and was buried in Jersey Hill Cem., Auburn Twp, Susquehanna Co., PA.)
