"Gabriel was of Morris Co. and on May 26, 1753 obtained a l icense to marry Mary Shotwell of Woodbridge, NJ, daughter of John, a Friend. As Gabriel was not a friend, and Mary was, a State marriage license is possibly explained." from The Shackletons, p. 101.
