John Jacob Shoemaker ²³⁰

  General Notes:

John was an army captain in the War of 1812 and was quite p rominent, owning a grist mill, saw mill, and clover mill, n ear Bushkill, PA. He lived in Middle Smithfield Township a nd the Village of Shoemakers was named for him or for one o f his children. His son Andrew Jackson Shoemaker operate d the post office there.

John married Hannah Drach, daughter of Rudolph Drach and Mary Magdalena /Wimmer Winner. (Hannah Drach was born on 4 Oct 1799 in Hamilton Twp., Northampton Co., PA ¹⁸¹ and died on 22 Mar 1876 ¹⁸¹.)
