Doris Sobin, active in Union, 73

A service for Mrs. Doris Sobin, 73, of Union will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union.
Mrs. Sobin died Friday in JFK Medical Center, Edison.


She was a secretary with the American Aluminum Casting Co., Irvington, for 36 years.
Mrs. Sobin was a past member of the Union Township Civil Defense and a past member and officer of Callmens Emergency Unit. She was the first woman to serve in the Union Police Auxiliary and was past president of the Democratic Club of Union. She also was a Union Township mayors advisor to the Associated Humane Society, and a member of the Union Township Board of Health.
Born in Irvington, she moved to Union 54 years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Joy Hora, and two grandchildren.

Doris married Edward Sobin, son of Edward Sobin and Esther Schilling.¹⁹⁹ (Edward Sobin was born on 17 Jun 1924 ¹⁹⁹ and died on 15 Oct 1990 ¹⁹⁹.)
